Overview:

During my time as an Audio/Video Production teacher, I have successfully overseen many individual and team projects ranging from short story films, school lip dub music videos, recitals, athletic events, pep rallies, promotional videos, news broadcasting stories, interviews, competitive videos events, YouTube content, and much more. It is very important to me to ensure that my students see value in the education they are receiving and motivate them to put their best effort into projects. I have collected and created a wealth of resources that students can access from my class website (www.coursey.us/classroom). Many of my lessons are project based and/or through hundreds of guided videos that I have personally created and posted on my YouTube Channel (Mr. Coursey’s Classroom).

I have been blessed with students in my Audio/Video program that have had many successes over the span of my 16 years of teaching. It is always my commitment to grow every student to meet their full potential through differentiated instruction, empowering growth, and impacting their future with employable skills through well planned lessons, diverse projects, and achieving industry certification.

The only limit to your impact is your imagination and commitment. —Tony Robbins

Growing and Empowering students through knowledge and hands on experience while preparing them for the next level
All students enrolled in my Digital Media, Audio/Video Production, and Animation classes have the opportunity for me to administer industry certification exams such as Adobe Certified Associate (Photoshop, Animate, Premiere Pro) to obtain credentials needed in industry making them more desirable and employable to future potential employers. Dozens of students in my classes have been passed the Adobe Certified Associate exams due to diverse projects, well planned lessons, and practice on test preparation sites such as G-Metrix Skills Management.

Whenever I get the chance to promote my classes and students, I am proactive in seeking out opportunities. I have also been an active fundraiser for Susan G. Komen.

Since 2013, I have been the producer responsible for distributing the school announcements through live video to the school with our Skeeto-byte News program. In the summers of 2014 & 2015, I was asked by the district to develop a two-day summer camp curriculum in Audio/Video Production to teach local elementary age students from grades 3rd to 6th. Mesquite ISD students had a busy week learning all about different career education courses that Mesquite ISD offers at the Mesquite ISD Community Education Career Camp at Mesquite High School and the MISD Technology Excellence Center. Students from grades 3rd to 6th have spent 4 days learning about Robotics, Culinary Arts, Vinyl Cutting & Laser Engraving, and finishing with Audio/Video Production.

Before teaching, I began my career in industry as the webmaster for Amigos Library Services. Once I became the Web Technologies teacher at Mesquite High School, I became the webmaster for the school. At the request of my principal, I helped Mesquite High School become one of the first high schools to have an active following on social media through YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. In Spring of 2013, I was asked to give a presentation on our social media success to all Mesquite ISD Principals at one of their monthly district meetings.
